The prospect of a formal output agreement being reached at a meeting of oil producers in Algiers next week looks increasingly remote. There will be no formal deal at the gathering of Opec and non-Opec produc- ers in Algeria, a Mideast Gulf offcial close to Saudi Arabia tells Argus. The meet- ing, to be held on the sidelines of the International Energy Forum (IEF) on 26-28 September, will be informal, so will not result in any formal decisions, he says.
