Trinidad gas shortfalls to last until 2018

LNG exporter Trinidad and Tobago will continue to suffer natural gas curtailments until at least 2018, state-owned NGC chairman Gerry Brooks says. The curtailments have hovered at 15-30pc for the past two years, affecting LNG production and the petrochemicals sector. Government offcials had previ- ously indicated that curtailments would last until 2017. Former energy minister Kevin Ramnarine said in July that there would be no relief from the gas shortfall until BP’s Juniper project comes on stream in mid-2017.
