Concerns that unrest in Egypt would disrupt oil output and transit through the region helped push Atlantic basin marker North Sea Dated above $100/bl on 1 February. And fears that the protests could spill over to other Mideast Gulf producing countries further buoyed prices. But crude and product shipments through the Suez Canal and crude shipments through the 2.4mn b/d Sumed pipeline, which both pass through Egypt, have so far been unaffected by mass demonstrations to oust President Hosni Mubarak.
