Grain traders work on further development of Ukraine-EU shipping options

Shipments of Ukrainian grain plunged dramatically after local sea ports had been blocked due to the war. For example, Nibulon, one of the largest Ukraine's grain producers and exporters, reported more than a fivefold slump in exports of agricultural products due to the blockade of the seaport of Mykolaiv. As a result, the company shifted from sea shipments to railway, road and river transport. The inland transportation, however, boosted the company's logistics expenses in almost 40 times depending on the route. Moreover, the delivery time increased significantly due to bureaucratic delays during cargo crossing the Polish and Romanian borders. Nibulon insists that the grain corridor should be extended up to the port of Mykolaiv, which accounted for about 30 of the overall Ukrainian exports in the pre-war period.
