EU seeks to keep pace with US on regulatory overhaul

European legislative proposals to overhaul over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives markets, including oil swaps and futures, will help bring EU regulation in line with the US, internal markets commissioner Michel Barnier says. The proposed new laws will define more precisely the regulatory powers of four new EU supervisory bodies due to start work next year.
