Iraqi cargoes trade spot

Around a fifth of the 375,000 b/d of medium sour Kirkuk that loads at Turkey's Ceyhan changes hands before reaching its final destination. And spot trade in Basrah Light, which loads in the Mideast Gulf, makes up around 15pc of total exports of the grade of 1.48mn b/d (see graph). Somo prohibits its cargoes from being resold or refined outside the region originally agreed with the buyer, and does not sell to trading firms (AGM, 14 December, p2).
