One of the titans of global oil trading is scaling back its operations. BP is reorganising its integrated supply and trading division. "Our size and scale has been a source of competitive advantage but with it has come some impact on our nimbleness and responsiveness," trading division chief executive Paul Reed told staff on 6 October. The firm plans to focus more on developing projects in the rapidly growing energy markets of the non-OECD economies.
