US benchmark WTI rebounded to close on 21 August at 120.88/bl, up by 5.87/bl on the week. Atlantic basin marker North Sea Dated was up 6.69/bl to 117.35/bl. Crude imports to the US surged, increasing to nearly 1 lmn b/d, their highest level since January 2007. Light and heavy crudes found strength from improved gasoline and fuel oil refining margins respectively. But distillate-rich grades were hit by weaker diesel returns for refiners.
