The rebel Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (Mend) in Nigeria has warned that it will escalate attacks to target individual oil workers and oil industry soft targets such as petroleum storage facilities,bridges and offices.The rebel group's attacks have resulted in the shut-in of over 500,000 b/d of crude in the Niger delta - a fifth of Nigeria's light sweet crude output - since February.
