Crude breaches $40/bl

Oil prices rose and US light sweet crude moved to a premium to North Sea prices. Shale oil output continues to decline and 15 producers plan to meet in Doha next month to follow up on plans to freeze output at January levels. Atlantic Basin crude benchmark North Sea Dated cracked the $40/bl level for the fi rst time since early December, rising by $1.51/bl to $40.03/bl in the week to 17 March, and US marker April WTI was stronger still, climbing by $2.36/bl to $40.20/bl. This is the highest in over three months and the fi rst time-front month WTI has climbed to a premium to North Sea Dated since January.
