Angolan grades meet Chinese demand

West African crude sales to China eased for May loading, but demand from the so-called teakettle sector remained high. Sales of May-loading west African crude to Asia-Pacific fell by 8pc on the month to 1.86mn b/d (see graph). Chinese interest edged down but has averaged around 1.15mn b/d in the first five months of this year, up by 200,000 b/d on the same period in 2015. Demand from Indian and other Asia-Pacific refiners has fallen by around 160,000 b/d over the same period.
