Egypt: Fzz Flat Steel carries out plant production of approx 20-25 pct

In advance of actual and future market demand, Ezz Flat Steel (EFS) and Danieli carried out a series of tests that resulted in a significant increase in the potential plant production of approx 20-25 percent, in a single step. Maximum casting speed of 6.1 mpm was achieved in March 2007, and since then, the production has stabilized at the new conditions. Considering the actual slab thickness of 70 mm cast at EFS, the casting speed of 6.1 mpm means that the plant assures huge production levels for narrow and medium-width slab, too. For instance, at 6.1 mpm the hourly production can reach 220 tph for 1,100 mm slab width. The result is remarkable, since it has been obtained with extra-low and low-carbon steel grades, the plant's primary product range.
