Kuwait: United steel company : stating with setting up of a mill for billet production with one million tons capacity

Production of the Kuwaiti United Steel Company of reinforcing steel amounted to 480 thousand tons during 2005 compared to 369 thousand tons in 2004, i.e., up by 30 percent. The company is planning to increase its production in 2006 to reach 650 thousand tons per year. According to information obtained by Arab Steel from the company's sources, work has started to set up a mill to produce billets with a production capacity of one million tons per year to feed the existing reinforcing steel mill with the raw material. This mill is expected to be put into operation in the next half of 2007.
