Isdemir worries that Erdemirs block sale to foreigners

A block sale to a foreign buyer of a stake in Turkey's largest steelmaker, Ereg-li Iron and Steel Works Co. (EREGLIS), would harm the national interest, the local news agency cited a company affiliate as saying Monday. Ankara plans a block sale of a 46.12 percent public stake and a 3.81 percent portion owned by Development Bank of Turkey (TKBNK.IS) in the company, which is known as Erdemir. The sale would be a key element of Turkey's privatization program, which is backed by the International Monetary Fund.
