摘要

QUESTION ASKED: What are clinical trial (CT) participants' perceptions of care coordination (CC) among those enrolled in therapeutic trials in a community-based setting? SUMMARY ANSWER: Patients on CTs had a more positive CC experience compared with nonpartici-pants. Positive perceptions of CC among CT participants were partly attributed to CC support provided by clinical research professionals (CRPs). WHAT WE DID: In this mixed-methods research conducted in 2020 and 2021, 45 CT participants enrolled in therapeutic trials through the Hawaii Minority/ Underserved National Cancer Institute Community Oncology Research Program completed a validated Care Coordination Instrument. A subset of 14 participants completed virtual focus group interviews. Data for the control group were derived from our prior studies and matched by age, sex, cancer type (breast, Gl, and other), and disease stage.
