Ten months after the invasion of Iraq by American and British forces in March-April 2003,the situation in Iraq and in the Middle East as a whole bears certain realities and new challenges that are diametrically opposed to the hopes entertained and the objectives declared less than a year ago by the administration of President George W.Bush.
