The UK government is stepping up efforts to keep the country free of African Swine Fever (ASF) - with an immediate crackdown on small van loads of pork coming into the country from other parts of Europe. The Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) said strict new controls will come into force on 1 September, which strengthen the requirements for bringing pork and pork products into Great Britain from the EU and European Free Trade Association states.
