Proceeds of Oil Taxation Fell by 42% to AD 2,327.7 Billion in 2009

With oil prices having averaged considerably less in 2009 than in 2008 and with Algerian crude oil production having been reduced as a result of a cut in OPEC output quotas, the receipts from taxes on the oil and gas sector fell sharply in Algeria last year, dropping by 41.9% to AD 2,327.7 billion from AD 4,003.5 billion in 2008. As a result, total government tax revenue fell by 27.7% to AD 3,751.2 billion in 2009 from AD 5,187.06 billion the year before (US$1 = AD 74.5).
