Rabobank outlines commercial potential of gene-edited crops

Specialty crops, including fruits and vegetables with output traits, will be among the first gene-edited products to become available in global markets, suggests Dutch financial services company Rabobank. In its report entitled “specialty crops to test appetite for gene editing”, Rabobank argues that countries that treat gene-edited products as conventional products will pioneer the trend. These countries include: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Japan, Uruguay and the US. Meanwhile, the EU, Mexico, and New Zealand treat gene-edited products as genetically modified organisms.
