Global merchandise trade volumes are expected to grow just 1% in 2023, according to the latest forecast from the World Trade Organization (WTO), down from April projections for a rise of 3.4% as impacts from the war in Ukraine, monetary policy tightening and COVID-19 disruptions in China are seen holding down global economic growth.
