Brazilian crop area up 3 to top 76 million ha

The planting of major summer and winter crops in Brazil is rising across most major crops with total area topping 76.6 million ha, a rise of 2.9%, according to the Ministry of Agriculture’s supplies agency, the Conab. The study is the first of the season and was published this week. The planting of soybeans is expected to increase by 3.4% to some 42.9 million ha. The Conab reports planting as slightly more advanced than at the same stage last year.
