European Commission confirms Belgium’s CAP Strategic Plans, three approvals still pending

The European Commission has approved Belgium’s two regional Strategic Plans for the next Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), meaning only three farm policy blueprints still need to be finalised by 2023. On 5 December, the European Commission announced that it had formally approved the CAP Strategic Plans of Belgium’s two main regions, Flanders and Wallonia. Belgium is the only EU member state that was allowed to prepare two separate Strategic Plans – one for Flanders and one for Wallonia – since agricultural policy is no longer a national competence there.
