Corteva has presented four crop protection tools either on limited supply offer this year or awaiting US approval from this year. They include three herbicides and a biological-based nitrogen fixing microbial. The herbicides include Tolvera (Ishihara Sangyo Kaisha's tolpyralate + bromoxynil). The dual action product is intended for use on cereals for the control of weeds such as kochia, Russian thistle, waterhemp, green and yellow foxtail and lambsquarters. Tolpyralate would become a new active ingredient for the sector. It would afford growers rotational flexibility with nine-month plant-back to major crops, including lentils, peas, potatoes and canola, Corteva says. The company anticipates EPA registration in time for the 2024 growing season. Corteva recently received Canadian approval for OnDeck herbicide, based on the same ais. Breanna Thompson, US product manager, cereals herbicides, welcomes the new mode of action in Tolvera offering cereal growers a tool to combat weed resistance.
