Baghdad Is Hoping to Persuade the Chinese to Invest in the Iraqi Oil Sector

During an official visit to China that lasted about a week,the Iraqi President,Mr.Jalal Talabani,attempted,as he put it,to initiate "a new phase in the bilateral relations between the two countries." While the talks between the Iraqi delegation and its Chinese counterparts covered various fields of potential cooperation,it was the oil sector that was naturally at the heart of their discussions.
