Guardian Agriculture raises $20 m in Series A funding

US drone-based crop protection company Guardian Agriculture(Malden,Massachusetts)has raised $20 million in Series A funding.The business will utilize the funds to expand commercial operations across the nation,besides accelerating”large-scale”manufacturing of its SC1 electric vertical take-off and landing(eVTOL)aircraft.Guardian Agriculture rates SC1 as the”only autonomous,electric,aerial crop protection system designed specifically for large-scale agriculture”,adding that the aircraft is 15 ft(4.6 m)wide and has four six-ft(1.8 m)propellers.It can cover 40 acres(16 ha)of farmland per hour while carrying 200 lb(91 kg)payloads.In May,the company received authorization from the US Federal Aviation Administration(FAA)for the SC1 system,highlighting that the decision made it the first commercially approved eVTOL aircraft for crop protection uses in the country.
