New York lawmakers OK Act to protect pollinators from neonics

The state legislature of the US state of New York has passed the Birds and Bees Protection Act with an eye on safeguarding birds and pollinators from risks posed by five neonicotinoid insecticides – clothianidin,imidacloprid,thiamethoxam,dinotefuran and acetamiprid.The first-of-itskind legislation by a US state prohibits the sale,distribution and purchase of corn(maize),soybean and wheat seeds treated with the active ingredients from January 1,2027.It was introduced in the New York State Assembly,the lower house of the legislature,in January this year.
