UK research org backs Precision Breeding Bill

UK-based think tank Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) has supported the Genetic Technology (Precision Breeding) Bill introduced by the country’s government in May. The proposal to relax restrictions on gene editing technology to improve crop yields and boost resistance to diseases has already been tabled in the country’s upper house of Parliament, House of Lords.
