Under the terms of an agreement signed on 14 July,Qatar Fertilizer Company (Qafco)and Qatar Intermediate Industries Holding Company,set up a 60:40% joint venture called Qatar Melamine Company (QMC)for the construction of what will be the world's second largest melamine plant in Messaid.The plant is to have a capacity of 60,000 tons/year and will cost an estimated QR 900 million (247.2 million).It is to be located within the site of the Qafco complex,and Qafco will run the plant,oversee its operations and supply it with urea.
