CIS locomotive manufacturers to use 36% more steel this year

Russian national carrier, Russian Railways (RZhD) will increase its procurement of locomotives by 45% this year compared to 2011 to 770 machines, with almost all to be manufactured in Russia or by Russian companies (Transmashholding, one of them, owns Ukrainian diesel locomotive manufacturer Luganskteplovoz), an RZhD spokesman told Platts. To fulfill this order, traction rolling stock producers will increase theirsteelprocurements by 36% year-on-year.
