Perhaps it is now being confirmed that "big is beautiful" in the EU steel sector. This is the signal being sent out by the recent collapse of ASW, in the UK, DDS in Denmark and the closure NMH in Germany. All these companies manufacture a wide range of carbons steel products. Each has a small share of their EU market sectors-usually up to 3 percent. This is not an unknown situation, particularly in the long products segment. However, most of the moderately successful ones have a limited product range and serve local customers. ASW may be restructured in this way.
