Will the Arab steel industry take up the same trend which has become a fundamental orientation for the world steel industry, or rather also, with a higher degree, for most of industries in the world? In more direct words, the question may be as follows:Will the Arab steel industry take up the international orientation towards consolidation and merger or will the fragmentalisation phenomenon which had featured its past march remain to determine the countenances of its future development and growth?About twenty years ago, definitely at the beginning of the 1980s, the problem of the Arab steel industry was lying in its inability to respond to the growing demand of the steel products, which were dominated by the quantitative aspect in a basic sector, the sector for long products.
