The different national and inter-regional plans launched over the past few years for speeding up the development of solar energy in Euro-Mediterranean countries, and especially in North Africa and the Middle East, were a first essential step for bringing about the changes we are witnessing in the energy landscape. Above all, they identified the increasingly obvious reasons for these mutations and set out the medium and long-term objectives, as well as the broad lines of policies to be implemented for achieving them, in the different fields of regulation, funding, technological progress, and the inescapable need for cooperation between the countries concerned.
