Sharjah National Oil Corporation Established

The Governor of Sharjah, Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammad al-Qasimi, who is also a member of the Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has promulgated decree No. 52/2010 creating Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC). The emirate's new state oil company will enjoy financial and administrative autonomy and will conduct its business on a commercial basis from its head office in Sharjah. It will be wholly owned by the state and its activities will be overseen by the Sharjah Petroleum Council (SPC).
