Brent Has Regained More Than $3/B Within a Week and Is Now Above the $120/B Mark Again

On 14 June, nearly a week after the last OPEC ministerial conference took place in Vienna on 8 June, the price of North Sea Brent was back above the $120/barrel threshold on ICE Futures in London once again, closing at $120.16/b for July contracts that day, which represented a rise of $1.06/b from the previous day's close. Between 7 June, on the eve of the OPEC conference, when it was fetching $116.78/b, and 14 June, just before this issue of MENA Energies went to press, Brent regained $3.38/b. On the New York Mercantile Exchange (Nymex), part of the CME Group, on the other hand, the price of light sweet crude remained virtually stationary during that period, having edged up only from $99.09/b on 7 June to $99.37/b, also for July contracts, despite a $2.07/b increase on 14 June.
