The share of crude oil and condensate production in Algeria reverting to BHP Billiton totaled 6,245,000 barrels in the first half of this year, as against 6,640,000 barrels in the corresponding six months of 2010. The company also produces natural gas liquids (NGLs) in Algeria, and its share of NGL production was also down, having amounted to 1,062,000 barrels in January-June 2011 compared with 1,363,000 barrels in the same period of last year. The Australian company's total share of liquids production thus amounted to 7,307,000 barrels in the first half of 2011, or an average of 40,370 barrels/day, down from 8,003,000 barrels (44,125 b/d) in January-June 2010, representing a drop of 8.7% from one year to the next.
