Mr. M. Saleh al-Sada Replaces Mr. al-Attiyah as Minister of Energy

Mr. Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah, who was the ranking delegate to OPEC, having represented Qatar for 19 years within the organization, and was nicknamed the "architect" of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry, was replaced as Minister of Energy by Mr. Mohammed Saleh al-Sada on 18 January. Mr. al-Attiyah remains Deputy Prime Minister and has been promoted to the post of Chief of Staff of the Emir, or Emiri Diwan. In Gulf countries, this position is central and mainly involves coordinating all the Emir's official and unofficial duties, as well as his relations and work program.
