Satellite technology company Hughes Network Systems has announced a number of major deals that aim to bring connectivity to rural and hard-to-reach areas in Mexico. Mexican service provider Stargroup, and satellite and terrestrial communication development group Aitelecom, along with satellite operator Eutelsat and mobile satellite service consortium Globalsat, have selected Hughes' Jupiter System to power satellite connectivity at more than 7,200 sites across Mexico. In addition, Stargroup has chosen Ka-band capacity from the Hughes Jupiter high-throughput satellite fleet for an integrated, high-performing solution. The providers won awards under the Comision Federal de Electricidad (CFE) Telecomunicaciones e Internet para Todos initiative aimed at bridging the digital divide. They independently selected the Hughes Jupiter System to connect community Wi-Fi and internet access sites.
