QP and ExxonMobil Sign Agreement for the Development of a Petrochemical Complex at Ras Laffan

Qatar Petroleum (QP) and ExxonMobil Chemicals Qatar Limited, a subsidiary of Exxon Mobil Corporation, announced on 6 January that they had signed an agreement to move forward their plans for developing a petrochemical complex in Ras Laffan Industrial City through a joint venture in which QP will have a 51% interest and its American partner 49%. "The proposed complex would include the world's largest steam cracker and polyethylene plants, and one of the world's largest ethylene glycol plants," they indicated in a joint statement.
