NOC Is Planning to Step Up the Country's Oil Production from Existing Fields

The People's General Committee (government) has approved the development program drawn up by the National Oil Corporation (NOC), which largely focuses on increasing Libyan oil production capacity from known fields, many of which have already been developed. In particular, the company plans to develop or "rehabilitate" 24 oil fields at an estimated cost of 12.13 billion dinars (about US$9.96 billion). These are "technically, financially and economically proven fields," according to official Libyan sources.
