Sonatrach's Medium-Term Plan Calls for Capital Expenditure of 63 Billion Between 2008 and 2012

Quoted by Algerie Presse Service (APS), the Chairman of Sonatrach, Mr. Mohamed Meziane, announced that capital expenditure in the Algerian hydrocarbon industry was expected to total 63 billion over the 2008-2012 period. The national oil company draws up five-year investment plans that are updated annually. For the 2006-2010 period total investments of 33.2 billion were projected, and the figure was revised up to 45 billion for the 2007-2011 period. The 63-billion figure represents a new record for Algeria.
