Gulf Keystone Petroleum Is Due to Spud its First Well on the Shaikan Tract Early in the Second Quarter

Exploration operations are continuing on the Shaikan tract, which is located near the town of Dihok, in Iraqi Kurdistan. Operator Gulf Keystone Petroleum Limited says it has leased the Nov Ideal drilling rig from Weatherford Drilling International and that it should arrive in Iraq before the end of February. The first exploration well, Shaikan-1, will probably be spudded at the beginning of the second quarter. All the preparations for its drilling are well advanced.
