Consultative Council Approves 13 Oil Agreements and Amendments Entailing Total Investments of $2.4 Billion

Egypt's Consultative Council, which is chaired by Mr. Safwat al-Cherif, has approved 13 oil agreements and amendments to existing agreements with various international companies that call for total investments of around $2.4 billion, including for the drilling of some 30 wells. Another agreement concluded between Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) and a consortium of foreign companies - whose names had not been disclosed at the time AOGM went to press - had been approved in mid-June.
