16 Hydrocarbon Discoveries Were Made in the First 10 Months of 2008

The stream of oil and gas discoveries in Algeria is continuing at a rapid pace. Following the 40 finds reported in 2006 and 2007, a further 16 discoveries were made between January and early November this year. Another constant of the recent period is the domination of natural gas in these finds. Of the 16 reported in 2008, nine were made by Sonatrach operating on its sole account and seven by foreign companies operating in association with the national oil company.
