Demand for prilled and granular urea was muted this week, but producers are comfortable for now following sales to India. Traders are scheduled to load five urea cargoes for India out of the Baltic, with vessels nominated to load three 45,000t cargoes at Ust-Luga, and a 50,000t cargo at Kotka so far (see table on page 6 for details). A trader was close to finalising a deal at press time to purchase 45,000t of granular urea for India at about $565-570/t fob Ust-Luga, while other cargoes are believed to have been agreed earlier. Prilled urea offers were around $580/t fob this week. Some producers are targeting as high as $650/t fob for new business, but this is currently not workable into destination markets outside Europe.
