Having Attracted Only One Bid, the Exploration Bid Round for Offshore Blocks Is to Be Relaunched

With only one bid having been submitted for the four offshore blocks included in an international exploration bid round organized in 2007, Syrian Petroleum Company (SPC) has decided to reexamine the terms proposed with a view to retendering the tracts, the company's Managing Director, Mr. Omar Haddad, announced. "SPC has contacted some international companies that did not participate in the tender, thinking that some terms [of the proposed contract] did not suit them," said Mr. Haddad. "Discussions about these terms will be held with these companies at a later date in order to find out the reasons."
