In a 754-page report entitled "Sudan,Oil and Human Rights" published on 25 November,the American non-governmental organization (NGO) Human Rights Watch accuses the foreign oil companies operating in Sudan of "complicity" in the very serious human rights violations committed by the authorities,especiall the forced displacement of people and the bombing of civilian targets in the course of the civil war that has left an estimated 2 million people dead since 1983.
