Taqa to Arrange a $1.1-Billion Issue of Sukuks in Malaysia

In order to diversify its sources of funding, Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (Taqa) has informed the Abu Dhabi stock exchange that it is going to embark on a new fund-raising program entailing an initial issue of Islamic bonds in Malaysia worth 3.5 billion Malaysian ringgits ($1.1 billion). The launch of the issue is awaiting regulatory approval on the part of the Malaysian authorities. Once this has been obtained, "the program will enable Taqa to issue sukuks as and when market conditions are optimal," added Taqa in a statement.
