United Nations Compensation Commission Had Approved Total Payments of $33.3 Billion by the End of July

Under the reparations program for the compensation of victims of the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in 1990, the United Nations Compensation Commission (UNCC) disbursed a further $1,059 million in favor of the Kuwaiti government in settlement of nine claims approved at the end of July. Five were category E claims (signifying that they emanated from private-sector companies or state-owned enterprises) and four were category F claims (submitted by national governments or international organizations, including for environmental damage).
