BP Will Not Sell its Algerian Interests to TNK-BP, Says the Energy Minister

The suspense over the possible sale of Algerian assets to Russian interests has been brought to an end. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, the Minister of Energy and Mines, Mr. Youcef Yousfi, disclosed that BP had canceled its plans for selling its interests in Algeria. The Russian company TNK-BP was in the running to purchase those interests, but the Algerian authorities and Sonatrach seemed more than cool about that Russian offensive in Algeria (AOG, 16 Oct. and 16 Dec, 2010).
