Evonik Industries and Saudi Acrylic Acid Company Set Up a Joint Venture to Produce Super-Absorbent Polymers

Saudi Acrylic Acid Company (SAAC) and the German company Evonik Industries have created a 75:25% joint venture called Saudi Acrylic Polymers Company (SAPCo) for the purpose of developing a super-absorbent polymers plant in Jubail. The plant is to have a capacity of 80,000 tons/year and is due to enter production towards the end of 2013. According to Evonik, the project is expected to cost hundreds of millions of euros. SAAC is a joint venture between Sahara Petrochemicals (22%), Tasnee & Sahara Olefins Company (TSOC - 65%) and National Industrialization Company (Tasnee -13%).
